About r/askscience
r/askscience is a question-and-answer community about the natural world. Anyone can ask, but answers are expected to be accurate, in-depth, and backed by evidence, and moderation is strict.
That strictness is the point: threads can look empty because off-topic or speculative replies get removed. If you want a casual explanation rather than a rigorous one, a general discussion community like r/science may suit you better.
